More Largo Ammo!
For a few months (yeah, I procrastinate) Surplus International LLC has been advertising original Largo ammo, in original boxes or wooden and metal cases, with dates from 1961 to '77 (your choice). Prices vary, so visit the site:

Also of interest is the test data. They ran the ammo through a series of Spanish guns, including a Z45 and a "Star Super" (presumably a Model A Super).

Advertising
You may notice advertising on the site, again. I certainly hope you are noticing, cause that means you might click, and then I get money. As I mentioned, the site is too popular, so I need to upgrade. Also, I have too much information. The Z84 manual, for example, is not up there because I need to upgrade storage space also. And I have hundreds of other photos and other info I need to get up here, when I get the chance. But first, capacity and storage!
I did have advertising up for a while a few years back. It was a crock. Very generic, and so I never made a dime. I presume y'all were equally disappointed. Though I am having issues figuring it out right now, so only one ad is Star related per page, I am trying to get all of them to be about Star firearms. Click away if you see anything good!

More Company Info
Not new stuff, just more info. Sadly, its in Spanish.
The Spanish version of Wikipedia has what appears to be a pretty good article on Star as a corporate entity.
Oddly enough, for someone who has a fairly popular site (I check the logs) on a piece of Spanish gear, I don't read a lick of Spanish, so I haven't put the info up here yet. If you can translate Spanish to English, give it a shot, and I'll happily turn the info into a better company profile right here.
I don't want to steal the Wikipedia entry, so I don't need a letter perfect translation. A rendering to give me the accurate gist of stuff is just fine. I'll be rewriting anyway, to make it fit my style and the info I have.

Stop using all my bits
Despite no particular uptick in page views or anything, my hosting provider insists I am using much more bandwidth than usual. Like 30% more. Actually... you guys are. Or someone has attached a bot to their crappy servers. Or its an analytics anomaly.
Anyway, since I make no money off this (the advertising I tried briefly didn't pan out, you'll notice) I am reluctant to increase what I spend on it. The month ends in 22 minutes, so we'll probably be fine, but if this trend continues, its just barely possible the site will go dark at some time. Have no fear, it'll come back shortly thereafter, one way or another.
I'd ask for donations, but that always strikes me as cheezy. I /will/ gladly charge [well below market rate] fees for paid advertising, if anyone reading has a remotely relevant product, though. And I'll even design the banner for you for free.

Found another one
I should have looked closer. Check out the sailors in the RIB below. I'll make it easier on you:

There it is. A Z84, with the stock folded, clear as day in reasonably current action. This now has a home on the SMG page as well.

Spanish Marines and Star SMGs
Actually, lots of Spanish weapons.
While Star has always claimed that they were heavily employed by all the usual Spanish forces, I have mostly got anecdotal reports of relatively light use by the Guardia, some local Police, and the Army. MP5s are supposedly the standard weapon of the special forces SMG gunner. The Army, Air Force and Marines supposedly mostly got out of issuing SMGs around the time this emerged -- much like the rest of the world -- due to the prevalence of lightweight, select-fire rifles. However, in a recent Small Arms Review article, Julio Montes says:
An interesting weapon in the hands of these naval commandos [the UBEC and UOE] is the locally made Star Z-84... It has proved very efficient and reliable even after being submerged and beat up for longer periods of time. The ever-present MP5 is also found.
He also says that the CETME Ameli is issued one per Marine fireteam, and a photo shows a commando on a boarding party armed with a CETME model LC. There are some photos and discussion of their use of the Sterling as well, but I personally wonder if its in fact the CETME/Santa Barbara C2 model.
So, Spanish arms are standing fast in the face of foreign weapons like the G-36E. I have tried to make contact to see if we can get more info, and maybe some cool photos for the site.

SAR on the Z-45
The latest issue of Small Arms Review has a brief article by Jean Huon on the Z-45, and delving a bit into the whole Star SMG line.
Nothing thrillingly new and exciting, but some nice photos I haven't seen, including a stripped view, plus stripping instructions. And, its coverage of a Star! That's rare enough to be notable.
